The Victorian Military SocietyThe Victorian Military Society is an international society whose principal aim is to encourage and foster the study of military aspects of the Victorian era. The dates of study are 1837 to 1914, to include the period between the end of Queen Victoria's reign and the beginning of World War I. The Society publishes a quarterly journal, a newsletter and holds an annual military fair. As well as this the Society also encompasses the Anglo-Boer War Memorials Project and several specialist study groups, such as the Sudan Group, the Wargames Group, and the award winning Diehards reenactment group. Further details of the Society are given below and via the links to the left. Soldiers of the QueenSoldiers of the Queen is the journal of the Society, published quarterly. Each issue carries a number of articles on diverse topics, accompanied by maps, illustrations and photographs. Soldiers Small BookSoldiers Small Book is the newsletter of the VMS. It is published quarterly within the journal and contains a wealth of information and news for all members. Regular Features include: Special Interest GroupsThese are voluntary associations of Society members who wish to take a special interest in a particular aspect of Victorian military affairs. For further information please see the relevant group pages in the members area. Each group operates slightly differently depending upon
the wishes of the members of that group. Some hold regular meetings,
issue newsletters, but all provide a point of contact for any member
seeking help and advice on Victorian military history. The current special
